So without any adieu, let’s get started with the btwin rock rider 520 review
Frame:
Like any other good MTB, the Rockrider 520 comes with a 6061 aluminium alloy frame that’s pretty solid. The bike offers a raised position for the rider that makes it far more comfortable and fun.
With an awesome paint job, and life time warranty on the frame, the rock rider 520 is sure to steal the limelight where ever you go.
Key features:
- 6061 aluminium frame (Comfort geometry frame)
- Life time warranty on frame, stem and handlebar
Fork:
The btwin rockrider 520 frame is paired with a 80 mm travel suspension fork that’s pretty durable. It comes with a dial that allows you to adjust the stiffness as per riders weight. This function works really well if you plan on cycling on uneven roads or trails.
Key features:
- 80 mm of travel suspension fork with adjustable dial
Handlebar:
The alloy handlebar of the bicycle is pretty wide that offers good control and easy manuverability on any terrain.
Wheels & Tyres:
The 27.5 Aero trail EVO wheels with double walled rims are pretty stiff and durable. What we liked the most about them were the 28 spokes that reduce the weight drastically without impacting on rigidity and strength.
We truly enjoyed riding it on flat as well as on muddy roads.
The 27.5 inch wheels are single treaded that offer a fast rolling on flat roads and not to forget good traction on corners.
Key features:
- Aero Trail Evo wheels with double-walled rims
Groupset:
Fitted with a 3 X 8 chainset. The front derailleur comes with a SRAM x3 while the rear is equipped with SRAM x4 with speed indicators. This entry level groupset by Sram is an equivalent to Shimano tourney and Shimano altus. Considering the price point of this bicycle the sram grossest does compete justice.
Key features:
- SRAM S200 triple-chainring chainset (22/32/42 teeth)
- SRAM X3 8-speed rear derailleur
- Microshift MS22 front derailleur
Brakes:
The braking of this bicycle is powered with mechanical disc brakes that are precise and responsive. We also got a chance to try the bike in rainy and muddy conditions and were pretty delighted with the response that brakes had to offer.
Key features:
- Tektro aluminium brake lever
- Hayes Mx5 mechanical disc brakes
Saddle:
The bicycle comes with an Exclusive B’Twin Ergofit Evo saddle that offers great comfort. This is because its wider “hammock” shape ensures to support the sit bones of the rider. Pair it up with a good pair of cycling shorts, and say good bye to saddle sores.
However, the bike that we reviewed had a higher quality saddle that is even wider than the evo saddle that comes with the bike. Thus, offering even more cushioning and comfort.
